This guide explains the SOMFY RTS motor direction change process in simple steps. It also helps you determine whether your motor’s upper and lower limits have already been set before attempting to reverse its direction.
These instructions apply to battery powered SOMFY RTS motors where the upper and lower limits have already been set and confirmed.
You will be able to tell whether the limits have already been set by using the directional buttons on your handset to move the blind. If you need to press and hold the up or down button, and keep it held whilst the blind is in travel, then the blind limits have not been set. You can therefore change the direction of motor travel during the limit setting process.
If the limits have been set, then the blind will travel to the upper or lower limit at the touch of either of the up or down button. You should follow the instructions below to change the motor direction:
- Move the blind to a mid-point by tapping the up or down button so that it starts to travel and using the MY button to stop the blind midway.
- Once the blind is stopped, press and hold the UP + DOWN buttons on your handset together until the blind jogs. A jog is a brief up and down movement.
- Straight away, press and hold the MY button until the blind jogs again.
The motor direction will have changed now. You can test it by using the handset’s up or down buttons.
It is important that these two button presses are done close together, and that you hold the buttons until there is a jog from the blind in both steps — this may take up to 5 seconds.
These instructions apply to all battery-operated SOMFY RTS motors.
