How quickly will my blinds arrive?
This breaks into two distinct timeframes:
Manufacturing time: How long it takes to make your made-to-measure blinds
Delivery time: How long transit takes once dispatched
The second part is straightforward—orders dispatched reach you the next working day. The first part varies considerably by product.
What are the lead times for different blind types?
Every product page displays the current lead time for that specific blind. This isn't generic marketing copy; it's the actual manufacturing schedule at the factory making your order.
Fastest products (2-3 working days):
- Manual loft blinds
- Flyscreen DIY kits
- Electric blind accessories and spare parts
Standard products (typically 5-10 working days):
- Roller blinds
- Venetian blinds
- Vertical blinds
- Roman blinds
Specialist products (2-3 weeks or longer):
- Electric skylight pleated blinds
- Extra-wide electric roller blinds
- Shutters
- Highly customised configurations
The pattern: complexity extends lead times. A standard white roller blind for a bedroom window manufactures faster than a 3-metre electric blind with blackout lining and motorised controls.
Why do lead times vary even for similar products?
Three factors influence manufacturing schedules:
Customisation level: Standard colours ship faster than pattern-matched designs or specialist finishes
Automation capability: Products made on automated cutting lines process quicker than those requiring hand-finishing
Factory capacity: During January sales or pre-Christmas periods, popular items may show extended lead times
Check the product page before ordering if your timeline is tight. That displayed lead time is your reliable planning figure.
Can I get faster delivery for urgent projects?
Currently, we don't offer express manufacturing or priority queue jumping. The lead time shown is the lead time you'll receive.
However, based on our experience coordinating hundreds of time-sensitive installations, contact our team before ordering if you're working to a deadline. We can:
- Confirm whether the current lead time works for your schedule
- Suggest alternative products with faster availability
- Occasionally, arrange specific dispatch dates with factories (product-dependent)
Email your requirements to customer.services@newblinds.co.uk with your planned installation date. We'll tell you honestly what's achievable.
What happens during bank holidays and Christmas?
Bank holidays: Orders placed on bank holidays process the next working day. Your lead time begins from that processing date, not the holiday date.
For example: Order placed Easter Monday → Processed Tuesday → 7-day lead time begins Tuesday → Dispatch the following Tuesday.
Christmas closure: Factories close for the festive period. Each product page shows the last order date for pre-Christmas delivery as we approach December. Miss that date, and your order manufactures in January.
How will I know if there's a delay?
Our customer service team emails you immediately upon learning of any production delay affecting your order. You won't discover delays by wondering where your blinds are—we communicate proactively.
That said, delays are uncommon with the lead times displayed. The manufacturing schedule accounts for normal production flow. When delays occur, they typically stem from:
- Material supply issues (rare but not impossible)
- Equipment breakdown at the factory
- Extreme weather affecting operations
